Eucalyptus oil is an ingredient that is used in many mouth washes, and because of this mouth washes that contain eucalyptus oil should be kept out of reach from children and pets. If a person ingests large amounts of eucalyptus oil mouth wash, the toxins can cause multi-organ failure and affect the cardiovascular system. Swallowing a very small amount of eucalyptus oil mouth wash when you are gurgling is less dangerous, but should of course be avoided. Do not let children use eucalyptus oil mouth wash unless your dentist recommends it. Remember that children are more sensitive to toxins and the risk of them swallowing mouthwash is also higher.

Eucalyptus oil plays an important role in many aromatherapy treatments. Adding eucalyptus oil to baths are very popular, but some people have experienced heavy breathing, and drowsiness after taking long hot baths with eucalyptus oil. So it is recommended to take caution when using eucalyptus oil for the first time. Start off by taking a shorter bath and using a small amount of eucalyptus oil to test your skin sensitivity. Using a large amount of eucalyptus oil in the bath can cause skin irritations.

Applying eucalyptus oil directly to the skin is a popular treatment for a wide range of skin problems, but keep in mind that strong eucalyptus oils can cause skin irritations, especially if your skin is already injured by eczema, burns or cuts. Try testing the eucalyptus oil on a small area of healthy skin to see if you are sensitive to the eucalyptus oil before you proceed to treat your skin.
