 Can Honey Heal Acne?

Any kind of imperfection on our skin can be very annoying and embarrassing;  and can causes low self-esteem. Acne at any age can be a problem, rather it is caused by stress or hormones; or a diet that consists of junk food. Just like the many causes of acne; they're also different types acne. 


Different types of Acne

Papules:  Any small raised bumps on the skin. These are red bumps that are swollen with inflammation. Papules are generally more painful than whiteheads or blackheads.


Pustules:  Are zits that have come to the surface and are filled with white pus. Pustules are inflamed and filled with pus.  This sounds really gross but you could actually pop them and cause no harm.


Cyst:  These little demons are actually worst than your regular assault of acne. They are deep seated in your skin, and are caused by hormones; they manifest when your pores become blocked and infected. Cyst are very painful and often slow heal.Using honey to combat acne is really easy and the healing benefits are enormous.




Would you believe that honey was used in ancient times to heal wounded soldiers?   Well history records this as a true fact. Applying honey to a cut or wound directly works excellent as a first aid remedy; because of it's antimicrobial properties inhibit the growth of bacteria. So imagine the wonders it can do for your acne. Many of the ingredients in honey may also work to kill bacteria and fungus.



Here is how Honey works:


 Honey works as an antiseptic that kills the bacteria in your pores.Honey releases hydrogen peroxide at a low level into your skin which works to disinfect your skin of germs. The antimicrobial properties in honey are there because of the enzymatic production of hydrogen peroxide that are apart of most honeys around the world..

Honey healing properties are a based on the fact that it provides antibacterial activity, and helps keep a moist wound environment and also its thickness provides a protective block to infection.

This is how honey helps heal acne, but always start with clean skin before applying a honey mask, you want to make sure your pores are not clogged. It is advised to us pure raw honey for your mask.


Honey Skincare Recipes:


Face wash:  Mix a small quantity of lemon juice into 5ml of bee’s honey and apply on face before washing. This is used as a home remedy.

Facial cleansing scrub:  Mix 5g of almond seed powder into 5ml of bee’s honey, scrub softly and then wash.


Facial to improve smoothness:  A tablespoon of honey whisked together with white of an egg, 1 teaspoon of glycerin and 1/4 cup of flour makes an excellent firming mask. Just smooth on the face, leave on 15 min, and rinse off with warm water.


Facial to improve softness:  Mix one or two tablespoons of honey with one-third cup finely ground oatmeal. Add a teaspoonful of rose water. Clean face thoroughly. Spread facial mixture evenly over face. Relax for 10 min to 1.5 h. Remove with a soft washcloth and warm water. Rinse with cold water.


Facial moisturizing pack:  Mix 2 tablespoons of honey with 2 teaspoons of whole milk. Apply over the face and keep for 15 min. Rinse off with warm water, and then with cold water.
