Homemade Bronzer...The Best Fake Tan 



Since Coco Chanel made getting a tan  the it thing in the 1920's for wealthy, healthy , luxury lifestyles types; the world has been  in love with tan skin. So you probably wondering why get a fake tan; when we have the beautiful hot sun?  If done right a day at the beach should do the trick right?  Well there is a big problem with the sun and our skin, UV Radiation.

 UV radiation has been proven to cause skin cancer. There are two basic types of UV—Ultraviolet A (UVA) and Ultraviolet B (UVB). UVB radiation is produced by the sun and responsible for the sunburns people get when outside for too long.


What about Tanning Beds?

A tanning bed uses UVA radiation which is considered less harmful than UVB but has still been shown to cause skin cancer. Both have been shown to cause skin cancer but it is agreed that UVA penetrates deeper into the skin than its UVB counterpart. This is how a tanning bed can produce suntans in so little time. Also, research shows that prolong use of tanning beds can weaken the immune system, which can increase your chances of getting an illness. Tanning beds also damage the skin by evaporating the moisture in the skin, causing it to dry out. In time the skin will look leathery and wrinkled. So who is really willing to risk premature aging for tan skin? There are safe solutions.

Natural Bronzer Recipe


Base Ingredients


or Rice Powder


For Dark Tones

Activated Charcoal Powder

Cocoa Powder

Instant Coffee Powder


Reddish Tones

Ground Cinnamon

Beetroot Powder   


Yellow tones 



Gather all your ingredients and cover your work area with newspaper or an old  towel, makes clean up a breeze.

Grind any ingredients in large size particle grinder.

1 tablespoon of Arrowroot or Rice Powder.

 1/2 teaspoon of Tumeric 

1/8 teaspoon of Cocoa Powder or Coffee Powder

1/8 teaspoon Beetroot to even the out yellow


Place all ingredients in a fine mesh strainer and mash through. Handle gently, the powder will be dry and easily fly around.

Important tips: Test your batch on your wrist, if you want a more yellow tone then add more Tumeric.


If you want a more red tone then use more Beetroot, and if you want a more darker tone you can use more Coffee Powder, or Cocoa Powder or Activated Charcoal.


Remember to mix well and when you get your color right spoon into a glass airtight jar, or a clean make-up container.
